Our chef has mastered flavours of India’s & Nepal’s aromatic herbs, spices and other ingredients both in the traditional ways that you are accustomed to and an equally contemporary sense that teases your taste buds.

We have the widest range of cheeses in the county with over 120 different varieties, may of them are sourced in Leicestershire and the surrounding counties, as well as the best from the rest of the UK and a wide variety of continenal cheeses. Stilton is our speciality, and we are unique in sourcing our cheeses directly from Long Clawson Dairy, based just five miles outside Melton Mowbray.

Originally laid out in the 1920s by the grandparents of the current owner, the garden has been developed gradually by subsequent generations to its present state, where in 2019 it was voted as ‘The Nation’s Favourite Garden’ in a poll conducted by the English Garden magazine in conjunction with the National Garden Scheme. Since 1991 it has been tended by Susie Pasley-Tyler, recently joined by her younger daughter, Imogen.

Art is very important to Uppingham with a number of distinguished art galleries displaying work from acclaimed artists from around the world as well as introducing visitors to a plethora of talented local artists. Peter Barker Fine Art is a great example of this, and the internationally renowned Goldmark Gallery is certainly not to be missed. The Rutland Gallery exhibits both established and emerging contemporary artists.
