Rockingham Castle
This remarkable castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, it has been a family home for 450 years. Prior to the Watson’s ownership the Castle was held by the crown. There are very few other homes that have been continuously occupied for nearly 1000 years and within that time been owned by just one family since being relinquished as a royal Castle. I think this is a particularly extraordinary aspect of Rockingham’s long and fascinating story.

Market Harborough
Market Harborough is a rare example of a planned medieval ‘new town’. It was created in the 12th century especially to be a market and to promote local trade. Markets are still held in the town on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8.30am – 5.00pm, with an Antiques Market on Sundays.
The picturesque, busy market town of Market Harborough is just a short five minute drive from Foxton Locks Lodges. The town offers the ideal place to head for a range of well-known high street shops, independent boutiques and a range of restaurants and pubs. The town is steeped in history with the St Dionysious Church and old Grammar School located in the centre of the town. Browse boutiques selling handmade jewelry, handbags, designer clothing and antiques. After you’re all shopped out, stop off at one of the cafes, restaurants or pubs to relax and unwind.
